If you are tired of staying indoors or are looking for something fun and exciting to do with your family, check out some of the local attractions in and around Kosciusko.
On the last Friday in June, historic Kosciusko comes alive when the town square shop owners open their doors and bring their merchandise outdoors for the much anticipated annual sidewalk sale event. As shoppers seek out their bargains, the sound of grills and smells of mouth-watering barbeque waft through the air as competitors in the Breezy 101 & Kicks 98 Barbeque Battle vie for the championship. The evening culminates with a free concert featuring some of the South’s finest musicians. June Jam is an annual Kosciusko event sure to entertain.
Natchez Trace Festival
For over 42 years, springtime in Central Mississippi has been heralded in with the Natchez Trace Festival. Set among the beauty of historic downtown Kosciusko, thousands of visitors converge on the town square to shop, eat, and participate in many of the activities scheduled during the three-day festival. Visitors can view the extensive artisan gallery, participate in the 10k or 5k run, and then enjoy the sounds of Mississippi musicians as they play nightly. Discover more about this springtime tradition, and learn how you can participate in the festival’s events and activities.
Kosciusko's parks provide year-round opportunities for activities. The parks include Hugh Ellard Park, Jason Niles Park, Northside Park, Aponaug Park, and Redbud Springs Bicentennial Park. Hugh Ellard, Jason Niles, and Northside Parks all provide walking tracks for the community’s enjoyment. New tennis courts have also been constructed at Jason Niles and are ready for play.
Sports programs, ranging from baseball to soccer, and for youths of all ages, are available through Parks & Recreation.
